Jojin Van Winkle received a prestigious 2022 RAM Fellowship from the Racine Art Museum (RAM). This regional fellowship’s monetary award is to assist with the development of new work. The fellowship has culminated in a solo exhibition from August 30, 2023 – November 25, 2023 at the RAM’s Wustum Museum of Fine Arts (Racine, WI). Jojin is honored to be selected for this artist fellowship and is thrilled to have support for new lens-based artworks. She will be on a panel on Nov 8, 2023 at the RAM-Wustum.

The Destruction Project, an experimental film/video

Jojin Van Winkle’s experimental film/video, The Destruction Project  (15:30min) is an official selection for the 2022 festivals: Experimental, Dance, Music Film Festival (Toronto, Canada), the Film Girl Film Festival (Milwaukee, WI, USA), Seoul International Monthly Film Festival (May 2022) (Korea), Hamburg Film Awards (Germany), and the Rekajavik Independent Film Festival (Iceland). The Destruction Project won Best Experimental Video for the High Tatras Film & Video Festiva (Slovakia) March 2022 Season.
In 2021 The Destruction Project was an official selection for the VASTLAB Experimental 2021 (Los Angeles, CA, USA) from November 11-28, 2021, Shiny Sparkle Independent Online Film Festival, Onkyo Film Festival (Tallin, Estonia), Make Art Not Fear, an annual Festival in Port, Portugal from October 1-31, 2021, and MyMrsTimeless, an international women’s film festival in London, UK. The Destruction Project was art of  the LoosenArt’s “Inspired by Words” exhibition, in Rome, Italy from September 23-October 1, 2021, and was an official selection, receiving an Honorable Mention Awards from the NYC Video and Art Experimental Film Festival, the MyMrsTimeleses, the Tokyo International Monthly Film Festival and the Athens International Monthly Film Festival.

Tanked, a short screen play

Unemployed, thirty-something Brian wants to be a father. When his budding fashion designer wife has a big showcase opening the same weekend his widowed sister, reveals a secret, Brian finds himself torn between helping the two women he loves.
Jojin Van Winkle’s short screenplay Tanked (31 pages) won the Best Feature Script in the Reykjavik Independent Film Festival in February 2022 and Best First Time Screenwriter in the Cowpokes Int’l Film Festival (TX) in June 2022. Tanked is a finalist for the International Screenwriting Competition (New York, NY) and as well as nominated for Best Short Screenplay (unfilmed) for the the Unrestricted View Film Festival (London, UK). Tanked is an official selection for the 2022 Fort Myers Beach International Film Festival (FL) and the Hamburg Film Awards (Germany).
In 2021, Tanked was a semi finalist for the Frances Bell Film Screenwriting Competition (London, United Kingdom), a finalist and an official selection for the Shawna Shea Memorial Film Festival held in Sturbridge, MA on September 21-25, 2021, a runner up and official selection for the KinoDrome: International Motion Picture & Screenplay Festival held in Cleveland, OH on September 26, 2021, and a finalist and official selection for the Vesusvius International Film Festival (Campania, Italy).
Tanked was an official selection in 2021 for the Focus International Film Festival, Las Vegas, NV, the Shortz-Films program for independent filmmakers and an official selection for the FESTIVAL ANGAELICA base out of Pasadena, CA.
Tanked was awarded the Best Original Short Script by the Gothamite monthly film awards (New York, NY) for August 2021, an Honorable Mention for the Like It Film Festival (USA), the Best Short Screenplay for Art Film Award Monthly Film Awards, Skopje, Macedonia, Republic of the Former Yogoslavia, along with awards in other competitions.

For April thru June 2022, Jojin Van Winkle is participating in an online international artist residency with the Belgrade Art Studio (Belgrade, Serbia). The residency culminated with a virtual exhibition .

recharging my practice / 2021
For August, October and November 2021, Jojin Van Winkle participated in an online international artist residency with the World of Co. (Sofia, Bulgaria). The residency culminated with a virtual exhibition from December 22, 2021 through January 25, 2022. Jojin showed several short videos. Also featured was her website re-design project completed during the residency with images from the new website vs former website. Jojin gave a virtual artist talk via the WOC Instagram on January 14, 2022 about her residency projects.

In December 2019 Jojin Van Winkle was awarded an Equity in the Classroom–Implementation Subgrant, part of the collaboration of the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU), the Wisconsin Technical System (WTCS), and the UW System, working on 60 Forward, an initiative which is funded by a grant from the Lumina Foundation.
On November 17, 2020 Jojin presented the webinar talk, “Community through the Camera Lens” discussing highlights of the student community-based digital photography projects supported by this faculty grant.
